Fotomoment is committed to environmental responsibility in the photography and image production sector, integrating sustainable principles into an Environmental Management System (EMS). The main pillars of its policy include:

  • Legal Compliance: Strict compliance with applicable environmental legislation and regulations.
  • Pollution Prevention: Identification and control of the environmental impacts of its activities, promoting pollution prevention.
  • Waste Management: Reduction of waste generation, with a focus on reuse, recycling and responsible disposal.
  • Resource Efficiency: Rational use of natural and energy resources, with the adoption of cleaner practices and technologies.
  • Continuous Improvement: Definition of measurable environmental goals, with periodic reviews to promote continuous improvements.
  • Training: Training and awareness of employees and partners for sustainable practices.
  • Sustainable Value Chain: Integrated environmental management at all stages, from planning to final delivery, with suppliers aligned with the same values.

Value Chain

Discarding Photo in closed console:

  • Procedure: Each discarded photo is placed in the console.
  • Console: the console is closed, with access only by employees of the company providing the service.
  • Contracted company: www.stericycle.pt

Certified company collection process:

  • Collection: the collection process is carried out by an employee of the company providing the service, duly identified.
  • Monitoring: after collection, our supervisor monitors the transportation process to the mobile unit and the collection process ends with the destruction of the discarded photographs.

Process for destroying confidential information:

  • Destruction: the photographs are deposited in the mobile unit's shredder, thus ensuring compliance with data protection law (GDPR).

Waste resulting from our monthly volume:

  • Amount generated: average 1 kg daily
  • Collection frequency: monthly

Process certification:

  • Certificates issued: After this process, a collection guide and a certificate of information destruction are issued in compliance with the GDPR law.

Safe transportation:

  • Route: our waste is transported in the mobile unit to the secure facilities of the company that provides us with the service.

Waste pre-selection:

  • Waste category: our waste is pre-selected and placed in the deposit corresponding to its category (LER code 200101).

Environmental Agency Certification:

  • At this stage of the process, we are issued an e-GAR (official certificate issued by the APA), which certifies us as an institution, that our waste is treated and processed in compliance with the Environmental Law.

Storage:

  • After the above process, the material goes through the sorting and storage process so that it can be compacted and stored in safe facilities. Then proceed to the processing plant.

Recycling:

  • Processing: This material is sent to certified partners (stericycle partners), where the recycling and processing process for the final product will be completed.
  • Transformation Process: since this is a product that is mostly made of paper, there is no industrial possibility of finer separation. The operation code used in our process is called R12.
  • From the above point, our product is 100% recycled.
  • The correct application of the R12 code is essential for efficient and sustainable waste management, as it allows waste materials to be transformed into useful resources, contributing to the circular economy and reducing environmental impact.

Recycling product:

  • Our waste falls into a category that is used to produce cellulose.
  • Several products can be derived from this cellulose, exemplified in the images below. https://recicla.pt/abc-da-reciclagem/saiba-mais-sobre-as-embalagens-de-cartao-para-alimentos-liquidos/
  • This way, you complete the process of discarding our product until it re-enters the value chain of other companies, thus generating the Circular Economy.
